Home buying seminars (or classes, workshops, or whatever you want to call them) are a perfect complement to your real estate marketing program. They are educational, popular and much more personal than any marketing piece. They can also position you as an authority, which can easily lead to future clients.

When you use a seminar or workshop as part of your real estate PR program, there are certain best practices you need to follow:

  • You need to promote the value of your seminar. Tell people how they will benefit from attending (such as saving money).

  • If possible, recruit some co-presenters. For instance, a home buying seminar with a real estate agent, a mortgage professional, and a home inspector would be more valuable than one with an agent alone.

  • The key to promoting a seminar is to do it early and often. Don't rely on a single marketing "blast" to get the word out. Use press releases, flyers, direct mail, your website or blog, word of mouth, etc.
